Flower food is now big business in the flower trade and has been proven to help
 fresh flowers develop and bloom.  Flowers like the rest of us need water to survive and
also like us they need food to develop into  their full potential.

Gone are the days when you just put your flowers in a vase of water,
 which after a few day went rather green and smelly.  Now science has taken over..........
There are three types of flower food available in the flower supply chain -
read on and all will be revealed!

Professional 1 Solution - specially designed for growers, wholesalers
and bouquet makers.  This food inhibits bacterial growth and reduces the pH of the water.
 It keeps the water clear, clean and odourless, inhibits stem clogging up and
stimulates water uptake so avoiding 'bent neck' syndrome. 
Because it contains no food, this solution acts as a conditioner. 
It is only used on flowers that need a brief hydration, like dry packed flowers,
 and then only if they are to be stored in a cold room or chiller.  Florists do not use this
for shop stored flowers because flowers that are kept at ambient
temperatures need a certain level of nutrients.

Professional 2 Solution - this is the flower food that we use in our workshop
and is the one that your local florist should be using in her shop.
This solution contains 70% less food that you the customer will be using.
The flowers get just the right amount of nutrients to hold it, but not so much that they open
 and peak too early.  The biocides will avoid infection while water uptake is
stimulated to avoid 'bent neck' syndrome. 
This solution keeps our buckets clean, clear and odourless.

Professional 3 solution - is what you the customer make up when you
empty those little sachets of food you receive with your bouquet.
 This has 100% food content and does it all.
 It keeps vases clean, clear and odourless, encourages full development of the flower,
ensures firm stems and non-yellowing leaves, improves scent,
maintains true colours and reduces fading.

So to keep the care chain going and to improve the life of your flowers
it is important to use the little sachets we provide with your bouquet. 
Use the food and keep your flowers away from direct sunshine and
direct heat sources such as fires and radiators and your flowers should last.
